Dash for the Beads raised $22,300 for 10 Oak Cliff schools, youth organizations

Rosemont Elementary School received $11,000 from this year's Dash for the Beads.

The Rosemont Elementary School Dad’s Club received $11,000 from this year’s Dash for the Beads.

And The Kessler School received $3,000.

This year’s Dash for the Beads was all about exercise, entertainment and more.

The annual 5K run, walk and outdoor festival on Valentine’s Day raised $22,300 for schools and organizations that serve Oak Cliff youths. The real winners.

More than 2,500 people joined in the sixth-annual event at Kidd Springs Park. And this week leaders of the Dash for the Beads nonprofit presented checks to two of the 10 recipient groups.

The Rosemont Elementary School Dad’s Club, organizer of the event, received $11,000. The Kessler School took in $3,000.

Other beneficiaries: Adamson High School, $1,000; Dallas Youth Athletic Association, $1,000; Fellowship of Christian Athletes-Dallas, $1,000; Kidd Springs Swim Team, $1,500; KIPP DFW charter school, $1,500; Yvonne Ewell Townview Magnet Center, $1,000; Kidz Klub, $300; and Promise House, $1,000.

Good Space, Hewitt Hapgood Realty, Maverick Project Management, MeritCard Solutions and Chad West were major sponsors for this year’s Dash.
